Summer Frenzy: 10 days in China, Boston Photography Workshops, Back alley BBQ, & Waffles.

Wow, crazy start to the summer. Thrilled to have opened my new teaching studio: Boston Photography Workshops which opened with a bang, including: photo-demos for chefs, an NYC media workshop on new digital trends, and... a good old fashion Digital 101 class. From there I headed to Indianapolis for VRX Studios to work with The Alexander Hotel, which is just an incredible hotel with even better people working there. After Indy (and a few beers) I departed for Dandong China for a 10 day shoot (again for VRX) and shot a sparkling new Hilton Garden Inn. Dandong China is located in the far north of China and borders North Korea, very cool experience. From long nights, lots of noodles, illegal roof top photo shoots, to celebratory explosions, China was as always.. an experience. Summers just getting started, below is a sampling of the whirlwind May & June.

Early morning in the Maltese Islands, waiting for the sun to break for a sunrise shot of a hotel exterior (being shot for VRX Studios) In the distance I can hear thunder rumbling, I'm hoping the rain doesn't decide to dump on me as I'm perched on a rock wall older than the U.S.A. Suddenly the sky lights up and I turn around to catch a quick lightning strike. I decide to swing my camera around and switch my settings to a high ISO and quick shutter, why not try and see if lighting strikes twice? After about 7-8 minutes, right as I'm about to give up, boom. Sky lights up and I fire away, 3 frames caught strikes. Sometimes you just have to wait it out and hope for a little luck.

Architectural photography fun. I spent a few hours on a break photographing the Incheon International Airport and its newly constructed train station. The shapes were badass and the lines were fun to shoot. All of the images are shot with my point and shoot Canon S120 in Manual. Files were converted in the Adobe RAW processor. I pushed the processing heavily to emphasize the lines and texture of the building, Like I said, just for fun.
